‘New York Bangla Boi Mela’ begins marking Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2020 (BSS) – The 29th 10-day book fair titled ‘New York Bangla Boi Mela 2020’ began online today amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Muktodhara Foundation has organised the book fair marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The fair has featured novels, collection of poems and other books written by both Bangladeshi and Indian writers.

Besides, it is also featuring cultural shows including concerts and seminars.

Another attraction of the fair is the Muktodhara / GFB Sahitya Puraskar for contribution to Bengali language and literature.

The award, funded by Muktodhara adviser Golam Faruq Bhuiyan, is worth 2,500 US Dollar.

In addition, an annual prize of 500 US Dollar is being launched this year for the best books published by Bengali writers who live abroad.
