Stocks finish week in red

DHAKA, Sept 17, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock
Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished week slipped into
red from the two days winning streak as risk-averse investors opted for
booking profit on sector-wise issues.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 5104.65 points on Thursday, the
last working day of the week, with a loss of 12.15 points or 0.23 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah
index, DSES went down slightly by 2.51 points and 5.77 points to settle at
1761.60 points and 1163.06 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 204,832 trades were executed
in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 365.43 million
securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market,
stood at Taka 10.13 billion from Taka 11.47 billion in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 354 issues traded, 107
securities gained price while 210 declined and 37 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE decreased to Taka 3,856 billion which was Taka
3,867 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Republic Insurance, Nitol Insurance, Monno
Ceramic, GSP Finance, Purabi General Insurance, Central Insurance, Malek
Spinning, Sayham Cotton, Pravati Insurance and Janata Insurance.

Monno Ceramic topped the turnover chart followed by Brac Bank, Beximco
Pharma, Delta Brac Housing, Nitol Insurance, Beximco Limited, IFIC Bank,
Lankabangla Finance, Republic Insurance and Sayham Cotton.

The top ten losers were G Q Ball Pen, Hakkani Pulp, Meghna Petroleum,
Information Services Networm, Fu-Wang Ceramic, RSRM Steel, Express Insurance,
Imam Button, National Feed Mill and ICB Islami Bank.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)
also closed trade slipping from green of previous session.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 13.97 points and 17.00 points to stand at
8756.91 points and 14573.70 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 15,174,767 share and mutual funds of 278 companies
were traded, of which 89 issues advanced while 147 declined and 42 issues
remained unchanged.
