CHATTOGRAM, Sept 15, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 17,998 as 73 new patients were diagnosed with the lethal virus at six laboratories in Chattogram.
“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stand at 17,998 only in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.
Among the newly detected patients, 58 are from Chattogram city and 15 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
A total of 12,220 infected patients are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,966 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district among the total COVID-19 infected persons.
“A total of 14,195 coronavirus patients including today’s 71 have recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 81.38 percent in the district,” Dr Rabbi added.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations as dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said,
Besides, 1,502 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 14,195 have been recovered and 282 died while the rest 2,019 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district, the health official added.
