AL new Industry and Commerce Secretary pays homage to Bangabandhu

DHAKA, Sep 13, 2020 (BSS) – Vice-President (VP) of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Siddiqur Rahman today paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his mural in Dhanmondi, on the occasion of being appointed as Awami League (AL) Industry and Commerce Secretary.

FBCCI President Sheikh F Fahim, former FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP and Director of FBCCI Mehedi Ali accompanied the newly appointed Awami League’s Industry and Commerce Secretary, said a press release.

Fahim congratulated the VP of FBCCI during the wreath placing ceremony and said, “Politics and economics are two sides of the same coin and the benefits of PM Sheikh Hasina’s political-economic plan of ‘Vision 2021-2041’ are clearly visible.”

Siddiqur Rahman being an experienced entrepreneur contributed to our society through his economic endeavors by enabling job creation, revenue and multiplier effects while serving in different capacities for garments sectoral trade facilitation, and much more, the FBCCI president said.

“Being the Vice President of the apex trade body of our country FBCCI, whose mandate entails trade facilitation of CMSMEs and other major sectors of the economy, complementing the government’s 8th five-year plan, PM’s Vision 2021, 2041, LDC 2023, SDG 2030, engaging domestic and international stakeholders, diversifying the economy, enabling ease of doing business and others, Siddiqur Rahman’s new responsibility is a welcoming news for FBCCI”, he said.

His (Siddique) new responsibility will assist to consolidate multi-stakeholder engagements and pave a way for achieving our national, political and economic goals, he added.

During the occasion, the FBCCI president underscored the importance of the youth demographic indulging in politics.

He stated, “AL is the oldest party of our country that has representation from all professions. Younger generation should be building their career with responsibility and ethics to contribute in politics in the future, irrespective of their professional industries.”

Siddiqur expressed his gratitude for assigning him the new responsibility and condolences for the martyrs of the August 15 carnage.

“Building on my previous experience I will work with government officials, political leaderships, private sectors, and relevant stakeholders to serve in line with Bangladesh’s developing nation goals,” he added.
