France beat Argentina 4-3 in World Cup

DHAKA, June 30, 2018 (BSS) – France became the first team to move into quarterfinals as they beat Argentina by 4-3 goals in the round of 16 match of the FIFA World Cup 2018 held on Saturday at Kazan, Russia.

In the day’s match, it was France who shot into lead as Mbappe was brought down at the danger zone, referee pointed his finger at the dreaded spot.

Anthony Griezmann made no mistake to convert the penalty for France in the 13th minutes of the proceedings (1-0).

Young French sensation Mbappe, cutting from the left flank beat the rival goalie to give 3-2 lead in the 64th minutes of the play and four minutes later Mbappe made it 4-2 for France.

Aguero made it 4-3 for Argentina in 92nd minutes but France hung on to their slender lead.

France will now play against the winner Uruguay or Portugal in the quarter-final scheduled to be held on July 6 Nizhny Novgorod.

Earlier, Argentina finished Group D runners-up played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Iceland in their group opening match and lost to Croatia in the second match but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in their third and last group match

On the other hand, France emerged group C champions won their group opening match by 2-1 goals against Australia and edged past Peru by 1-0 goal in their second match. France then played out to a goalless draw with Denmark in their group match.
