Ensuring health codes stressed for reopening DU academic activities

DHAKA, Aug 29, 2020 (BSS) – Students’ leaders of different platforms of Dhaka University (DU) today called upon the DU authorities to take all necessary preventive measures against COVID-19 before reopening the university.

They also asked the university authorities to extend their supports to the students, who cannot attend the ongoing online classes due to lack of devices such as smartphones or laptops or internet access.

They came up with the suggestion at a virtual meeting attended by representatives from 13 active students’ bodies of the university.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) DU unit Saddam Hossain said they called upon the authorities to formulate a full-fledged roadmap and proper guideline before reopening the university to avoid students getting infected of coronavirus.

BCL leaders also urged the authorities to make proper plan to avoid session jam as the university has remained closed for a long time.

General Secretery of Bangladesh Students’ Union (BSU) DU chapter Rageeb Nayeem said the university authorities should allocate single seat for every students in dormitories and prepare separate isolation centers for students, teachers, officials and staffs before reopening the university.

The students placed a set of advises including arranging double classes for those departments, who have large number of students and may face difficulty to conduct classes maintaining social distancing, due to limited infrastructural facilities.

DU Pro-VC (Administration) Dr Mohammad Samad, DU Pro-VC (Academic) ASM Maksud kamal, DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani and provosts of different halls, among others, were present in the meeting.
