FBCCI invites BCIM to invest in Bangladesh

DHAKA, June 29, 2018 (BSS) – The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of
Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has invited the BCIM countries to invest in oil
refinery, pharmaceuticals, tourism and agro-based industries at the Special
Economic Zones (SEZs) in Bangladesh.

FBCCI Senior Vice-President Fazle Fahim made the call while attending the “13th China-South Asia
Business Forum” held recently in Kunming, China, said a press release today.

The forum was jointly organised by China Council for the Promotion of
International Trade (CCPIT), SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)
and People’s Government of Yunnan Province. The theme of the forum was
‘Interconnection, Sharing and Win-win Cooperation’.

During the Forum, Fahim urged the BCIM member countries to import RMGs,
pharmaceuticals, jute goods, leather goods, furniture, plastics and ceramics
products from Bangladesh.

The FBCCI senior leader also hoped that Bangladesh would be able to reduce
the huge trade gap among the BCIM countries in near future through tapping
the existing business potentials.

The FBCCI senior vice president made a presentation at the BCIM Business
Forum and Business Matching session.

Fahim in his presentation mentioned that the FBCCI is playing an important
role to promote trade and investment in the South Asian Region as one of the
proud members of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC).

He also highlighted the ways forward for enhancing trade and investment
cooperation within China and the South Asian countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FBCCI and CCPIT- Ningxia was
also signed at the forum to strengthen the cooperation on bilateral trade and
investment alongside improving information exchange.

The FBCCI senior leader also had bilateral meetings with the CCPIT leaders
and the experts from the BCIM member countries.
