Bangabandhu materialized his dream of independent Bangladesh: Tipu

Dhaka, Aug16, 2020 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had organized the whole nation in achieving the liberation, as he always dreamt of independence in his heart.

“The architect of Bangladesh not only kept the dream of independence in his heart, but also snatched independence by inspiring and organizing the entire Bengali nation in the freedom struggle,” he said while addressing a doa mahfil and online discussion.

The programme was held on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day 2020 at TCB Auditorium here on Saturday, said a press release.

In order to realize the dream of building a ‘Sonar Bangla’, the minister urged everyone to work hard from their own respective positions, as this will be the best way to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

Commerce Secretary Md Zafar Uddin presided over the function, while officers and employees of the Ministry of Commerce and all subordinate institutions attended it.

The commerce secretary said, “Bangabandhu’s thoughts were far-reaching. All the thoughts and intentions that he expressed for the economic emancipation of the country in the seventies are being considered today as a strategy for global poverty alleviation and development.”

The meeting was also attended by the Bangladesh Competition Commission Chairperson Mofizul Islam, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission Chairman Munshi Shahabuddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Tea Board Chairman Major General Md Zahirul Islam, National Consumer Rights Protection Department Director General Bablu Kumar Saha, Import and Export Chief Controller of Pranesh Ranjan Sutradhar, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute, Ali Ahmed, Export Promotion Bureau Vice-Chairman AHM Hasan, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh Chairman Brigadier General Md Ariful Hasan, Registrar of the Directorate of Joint Capital Companies and Firms Md Maqbool Hossain and Bangladesh Business Promotion Council Co-coordinator AHM Safiquzzaman.

Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the members of his family who were martyred.

Placing wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait, photo and painting exhibition, discussion meeting and screening of a documentary titled ‘Chiranjeev Bangabandhu’ were held on the occasion.

Commerce Ministry Secretary Md Zafar Uddin, Deputy Secretary Asaduzzaman and official of Export Development Bureau Shishir Kumar Saha recited poems dedicated to the Father of the Nation.
