MANIKGANJ, Aug 13, 2020 (BSS) – The 9th death anniversary of famous filmmaker Tareque Masud and prominent journalist Mishuk Munier was observed here with various programmes including human chain, discussion and tree plantation.
Tareque Masud and Mishuk Munier died along with their associates Wasim, Jamal and driver Mustafizur Rahman in a fatal road crash on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior Upazila of Manikganj on August 13, 2011 while returning from the shooting set of his unfinished film ‘Kagojer Phul’.
A memorial monument was established on the spot by the locals and several organizations had been observing this day in remembrance of Tareque and Mishuk with different programmes in the past. This year they also formed a human chain at Joka on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Ghior upazila where Tareque Masud and Mishuk Munir died
Manikganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Al Mahmud Faijul sentenced bus driver Jamir Hossain to death on February 22, 2017. The accused has since appealed, and the case is currently pending in the High Court.
