ADB delegation meets UGC member Prof MYA Mollah

DHAKA, June 28, 2018 (BSS)- A delegation of the Asian Development Bank
(ADB), led by its South Asia Department’s Human and Social Development
Division senior social sector specialist Erik A Bloom, met University Grants
Commission (UGC) member Prof Dr Md Yousuf Ali Mollah today.

During the meeting, they discussed matters related to ADB-funded project
for the tertiary education competitiveness in computer science, review the
human resources development for IT engineers, and review joint knowledge
sharing programme for the incubation centre and start up in Bangladesh, a UGC
press release said.

The proposed ADB project on information technology will be implemented in
four universities of Bangladesh while UGC has been made the implementing
authority of the US$ 250 million project.

Bloom said ADB wants to finalise the proposed project and disburse fund
to the selected universities shortly after receiving the detailed project
plans.

“UGC is trying its best to strengthen the relationship between industry
and universities…this project will certainly play a significant role for
country’s human resource development in IT sector,” Prof Mollah said, adding
that the universities would be able to produce quality graduates in IT and
CSE disciplines.

The other members of the ADB delegation were Dr Mohiuddin Alamgir,
Amitabh Lahiri, Prof Dr Md Mozahar Ali, Arun Kumar Saha, Md Nasimur Rahman
and Md Alamgir Akanda.

UGC secretary Dr Md Khaled, UGC director (Planning and Development) Abdur
Rezzaque, additional director of International Cooperation and Collaboration
Dr Md Fakhrul Islam and additional director of its Information Management,
Communication and Training Division Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan were
present at the meeting.
