Bangladesh emerged in exchange of blood of Hindus-Muslims-Buddhists-Christians: Hasan

DHAKA, August 11, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today
said Bangladesh had emerged in exchange of the combined blood of
Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians.

“Bangladesh is a unique example of communal harmony in the world,”
he told a meeting with Buddhist leaders here this evening.

A Buddhist delegation, led by President of the Buddhist
Kristiprachar Sangha Buddhapriya Mahathero, met Dr Hasan at his Minto
Road Residence, an official handout said.

Barrister Biplob Barua, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and
Awami League Office Secretary; Bhikkhu Sunanda Priya, General
Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation; Swapan Barua Chowdhury,
General Secretary of Bangladesh Buddhist Association; Bhadanta
Sharanankar Thero of Rangunia Falhariya; Roopam Barua, President of
Bangladesh Buddhist Unity Council; Pradeep Barua; and Barrister
Jyotirmoy Barua were, among others, present.

Hasan, also AL joint general secretary, said Bangladesh emerged
through the Liberation War under the leadership of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to establish a non-communal
state by coming out of the communal Pakistan.

But, he said, the communal forces tried many times to destroy the
interreligious harmony of the country.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter
of Bangabandhu, the information minister said, all these ill-efforts
were handled with iron hands.

He said if anyone wants to destroy communal harmony in future, it
will be resisted too.

Later, Dr Hasan Mahmud joined a function arranged at Siddheswari
Pujamandap in the capital on the occasion of Janmashtami.

AL Cultural Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, Relief and Social Welfare
Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and
Managing Editor of Daily Amader Shomoy Santosh Sharma joined the
function.
