Singer, Freedom Fighter Abdul Jabbar no more

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2017 (BSS) – Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer Abdur Jabbar died of multi-organ failure this morning at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He was 81.

Dr Debabrata Banik, in-charge of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of BSMMU confirmed the news to BSS, saying the legendary singer was declared dead at 9.20 am.

Jabbar was suffering from chronic kidney and heart diseases.

Jabbar inspired people through his songs from Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the Liberation War in 1971. He was awarded Bangabandhu Padak (1973), Ekushey Padak (1980), Swadhinata Padak (1996) and different national and international awards.
