Health condition of Abdul Jabbar unchanged

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2017 (BSS) – The health condition of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra singer Abdur Jabbar, who has been undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for kidney and heart ailments, was stated to be unchanged today.

“The health condition of the singer remained unchanged…His condition deteriorated on Saturday but was better yesterday,” BSMMU Director Brigadier General Abdullah Al Mamun told BSS.

He has been suffering from chronic kidney and heart diseases.

“The medicines and treatment process are working very slowly on him,” said Intensive Care Unit (ICU) chief Dr Debabrata Banik.

Wife of Abdul Jabbar, Halima Jabbar requested all to pray for early recovery of the eminent singer. She also expressed her gratitude for donation of Taka 20 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Fund.

Jabbar inspired people through his songs from Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the Liberation War in 1971. He was awarded Bangabandhu Padak (1973), Ekushey Padak (1980), Swadhinata Padak (1996) and different national and international awards.
