Bangamata was a ‘silent and skilled organizer’ of the liberation war : Speakers in webinar

DHAKA, Aug 9, 2020 (BSS) – Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was not only a wife of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, but also played a pivotal role in every step of the struggle of freedom of the Bangalee nation by dedicating herself as a ‘silent skilled organizer’.

The speakers said this in a special webinar, organized by Bangladesh Awami League on virtual system on Saturday night to mark Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib’s, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 90th birth anniversary here.

Moderated by former student leader and columnist Subash Singha Roy, the programme was also attended, among others, by Awami League Advisory Council member Amir Hossen Amu, Women Affairs Secretary Meher Afroz Chumki, former Dhaka University pro-vice chancellor Professor Dr Nasrin Ahmad, Dhaka University provice chancellor and poet Dr Muhammad Samad and DU’s social science faculty dean Dr Sadeqa Halim.

Senior Journalist Ajoy Dasgupta presented the keynote paper.

Terming Bangamata as the comrade of Bangabandhu, Amir Hossain Amu said “Bangabandhu had a concentration to work for the welfare of the country as well as the nation and his wife Bangamata had expedited the way of struggle.”

Recalling the martyrs of August 15, Meher Afroz Chumki said “We had no idea as how Bangamata led a simple life, though she was a wife of a great leader. Bangamata had ideology, humanity, patriotism and that’s why she never create any obstacle on the way of Bangabandhu’s movement,but she gave strength inspiration to Bangabandhu.”

In his keynote paper, senior journalist Ajoy Das Gupta highlighted various known and unknown facts on Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.

Bangamata Begum Mujib is one of the fewest great women in the history as the great women like her had a dedication to create a great hero in the world, said professor Dr Muhammad Samad.

Bangamata had inspired to write the autobiography of Bangabandhu which was published in three episode, he added.

Bangamata Mujib was the inspiration of Bangabandhu for his six-point movement, Mass upsurge, 70’s election and liberation war of 1971, said the DU’s provc.
