PANCHAGARH, Aug 8, 2020(BSS)- The 90th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was observed in the district as elsewhere in the upazila today in a befitting manner .
In observance of the day, a discussion meeting was held on “Life and Activities of Fazilatunnesa Mujib at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Azad Jahan in the chair.
Local lawmaker Mazharul Haq participated in the discussion meeting as chief guest while Zila Parishad Chairman Anwar Sadat Somrat spoke as special guest.
Mazharul Haq paid rich tributes to late Bangamata saying she immensely inspired father of the nation Bangabandhu in different movements particularly country’s liberation struggle in 1971 as a symbol of courage and sacrifice .
Later, sewing machines have been distributed among six women including widow , divorcee and oppressed
To mark the day, local upazila administration in collaboration with Women and Children affairs Department have jointly organized similar programme.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Debiganj (UNO) Prottoy Hasan presided over a discussion meeting at upazila parishad hall .
It was addressed among others, by upazila parishad female Vice-Chairman Ritu Akter and upazila Awami League President Gias uddin Chowdary.
Later, UNO also distributed sewing machines among six women .
