40 registered political parties in country: law minister
SANGSAD BHABAN, June 28, 2018 (BSS) –The number of registered political parties in the country is
now 40, Law Minister Anisul Haq informed the Jatiya Sangsad today.
“In addition to this, the Election Commission (EC) has also received 75 applications for registration of
new political parties,” said Anisul, also in-charge of the Election Commission Secretariat in the House.
The minister said this while replying to a written query from treasury bench lawmaker Nizam Uddin
Hazari (Feni-2) in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Of the 75 new applications, he added, 73 has been cancelled, while the process for further scrutiny of
two applications is underway.
