Kamal’s 71st birth anniversary celebrated in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 5, 2020 (BSS) – The district and city units of Awami
League (AL) today celebrated the 71st birth anniversary of Shaheed
Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in the city.

Leaders of the district and city units of AL paid rich tributes to
Kamal by placing wreaths at his portrait followed by brief discussions
and doa mahfils arranged at their respective offices in the city’s
Betpotti area this afternoon.

Leaders and workers of AL and its associate bodies participated in
these programmes maintaining health directives of the government.

President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the
functions held at its office with participation of leaders and workers
of district AL and its associate bodies.

Moulana Moynul Hossain conducted munajats in the doa mahfil seeking
divine blessings for eternal peace of the departed soul of Sheikh
Kamal, one of the prominent organizers of the War of Liberation,
freedom fighter and sports and cultural personality.

Moderated by General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim
Razu, Vice-presidents Mazed Ali Babul, Joynal Abedin and Utpal Sarker,
Joint General Secretary Rosy Rahman, Organising Secretary Wazedul
Islam, Office Secretary Md. Amin Sarker and Publicity Secretary Latifa
Shawkat, President of district unit Mohila AL Mortuza Mansur and
General Secretary Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite spoke in the
discussion.

President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over similar
programmes arranged at its office marking the 71st birth anniversary
of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal.

Moderated by General Secretary of city AL Tushar Kanti Mandal,
General Secretary of city Jubo League Murad Hossain, General Secretary
of city Swechchhasebak League Ramzan Ali Tuhin, among others, spoke.

Later, special munajats were offered seeking divine blessings for
eternal peace of the departed soul of Sheikh Kamal who was born at
Tungipara village under the then Gopalganj subdivision on August 5 in
1949.

Sheikh Kamal embraced martyrdom on August 15, 1975 at the age of 26
along with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and
their other family members.
