T-Aman seedlings distributed in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, Aug 29, 2017(BSS)- With a view to helping flood-affected farmers, the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) disbursed T-Aman seedlings among 1,500 marginal farmers in the district today.

The DAE under the post flood rehabilitation programme disbursed the seedlings among 300 farmers in Melandaha upazila, 500 farmers in Islampur, 300 farmers in Dewanganj, 300 farmers in Madarganj and 100 farmers in Sarishabari.

Director General (seed wing) of Ministry of Agriculture Ashraf Uddin Ahmed as the chief guest inaugurated the distribution handing over seedlings among the farmers at upazila parishad auditorium in Melandaha upazila.

The chief guest at his speech said the government has taken various post flood rehabilitation programmes, including infrastructure development and assistance to farmers.

He also urged farmers to cultivate each fallow land to recoup the loss incurred by the recent flood.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ahmed Kabir, the programme was addressed among others by Chairman of Melandaha upazila parishad AKM Habibur Rahman, Deputy Director of DAE Md Abu Hanif and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jhon Kenedy Jambil.
