DU announces Tk 741cr budget
DHAKA, June 27, 2018 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities here today announced a Tk 741.13 crore budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 in its annual senate assembly.
DU treasurer Md Kamal Uddin placed the budget in the senate assembly at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university with Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
This year Tk 432.96 cr has been allocated for salary and allowances which is 58.42 per cent of total budget, and Tk 107.4 cr for pensions which is 14.49 percent of the budget.
The University Grants Commission will provide Taka 628.31 crore for the budget and Tk 71.28 crore will come from DU’s own sources. The budget is likely have a deficit of Tk 41.54 crore, the treasurer told the senate.
Professor Kamal also presented a Tk 738.72 crore revised budget for the 2017-18 fiscal.
Last year, the Dhaka University gave a Tk 664.37 crore budget.
In his speech, DU VC Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman underscored the need for holding students’ union polls for creating future national leaderships and the proper management of the university.
Senate members of the university discussed the proposed budget and other issues of DU in the meeting.
