DHAKA, Aug 29, 2017 (BSS) -Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today warned of stern actions against the unfit vehicles, and overloading and overtaking, which are mostly responsible for road accidents during the Eid vacations.

“We request the transport owners and workers not to ply any unfit vehicle on the roads. Tough actions will be taken if unfit vehicles are found on the streets,” he said after visiting Sayedabad Bus Terminal to oversee the activities of vigilance teams responsible for checking extra bus fare and ensuring hassle-free journey.

He requested the drivers not to ply vehicles with extra speed and stop overtaking vehicles. “Otherwise, you will face the music for the misdeeds,” he warned.

Quader, also General Secretary of the ruling Awami League said the roads and highways damaged by floodwater have already been repaired and now those are fit for plying vehicles.

He hoped that there would be no traffic jam on the highways ahead of the Eid.

He asked the authorities concerned to remain alert to this end as the number of vehicles will be increasing hugely with the Eid approaching nearer.
