DHAKA, August 29, 2017 (BSS) – Physicians of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) could not conduct the second surgery on the right arm of Muktamoni as she has been suffering from fever from this morning.

“We were scheduled to conduct the second surgery on Muktamoni’s right arm today, but we had to postpone it due to fever,” Dr M Mahbubur Rahman of Surgery Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) told BSS.

“We are hoping that we will be able to conduct the surgery after Eid-ul- Azha,” he added.

Today the physicians held dressing over her first surgery’s wound, informed Dr Rahman.

The first surgical operation on Muktamoni was carried out successfully at the DMCH without amputating her right hand on August 12.

Muktamoni, a 10-year-old girl of Kamarbaisa village in Satkhira sadar upazila, was admitted to the DMCH on July 11 with a malignant growth on her right arm.

After her admission to the DHCH, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken responsibility of the treatment of Muktamoni.

According to her father Ibrahim, a grocery shop owner, Muktamoni and her twin sister Hiramoni were a pair of healthy baby girls during their birth.

But a wart appeared on her right arm when Muktamoni was about 18-month- old.
