Wastage of sacrificial animals to be removed within 24 hours: Sayeed Khokon

DHAKA, Aug 29, 2017 (BSS) – Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sayeed Khokon today said the wastage of sacrificial animals would be removed within 24 hours.

“DSCC and DNCC will remove wastage of sacrificial animal from 2pm on the day of Eid-ul-Azha till next 24 hours. Eid holiday of officers and employees of the two city corporations has been canceled to speed up the work of removing wastages,” he said.

The mayor was addressing a press conference at Mayor Mohammad Hanif auditorium in the city. DSCC and DNCC organised the press conference.

Sayeed Khokon said as many as 1,174 spots have been fixed for sacrificing animals in the city. Among those, 625 places are located in DSCC and 549 in DNCC.

He said some 1,217 imams and butchers will be present at the spots during the time of slaughtering animals on the Eid day. Of them, 625 will be in DSCC and 592 in DNCC.

The mayor urged the city dwellers to slaughter animals in the designated spots to help removal of the wastage of the sacrificial animals in an easier way.

He also requested the citizens to put the wastage at specific places if they sacrifice animals inside of residences.

Sayeed Khokon said DSCC would provide 2.5 lakh jute bags while DNCC will provide 4.55 lakh polythene bags so that city residents could put animal’s wastage into the bags.

He said as many as 17,000 cleaners would work at 15 cattle markets in DSCC and eight in DNCC for removing wastages.

The mayor said around 4.75 animals would be sacrificed during the Eid-ul Azha in the city. Additional around 25,000 tonness of wastage will be produced in the city from the sacrificial animals.

DSCC and DNCC Chief Executive Officers Khan Mohammad Billal and Mohammd Mesbahul Islam respectively were present at the press conference.
