Hazardous child labour to end by 2021: Mujibul

DHAKA, June 27, 2018 (BSS) – State Minister Ministry of Labour and Employment Md. Mujibul Haque today said the government is firmly committed to eliminate hazardous child labour in the country by 2021.

“The present government is working relentlessly to attain the goal. We have adopted a three-year-long project at a cost of around Taka 300 crore to take our work forward to end hazardous child labour in the country,” he said.

The state minister came up with the statements while addressing the sixth meeting of National Child Labour Welfare Council (NCLWC) at the capital’s CIRDAP auditorium this noon.

Labour and Employment Secretary Afroza Khan, additional secretary Khondaker Mostan Hossain, director general of Department of Labour Shibnath Roy, Inspector General of Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments Md. Shamsuzzaman Bhuiyan, Advocate Salma Ali and ILO representative Syeda Munira Sultana addressed the meeting, among others.

Haque, at the meeting, urged the newsmen to publish reports with importance to help find ways to end hazardous child labour, saying, “We would end all kinds of child labour in the country by 2025 to achieve sustainable development goal (SDG).”
