Country’s power generation capacity now 18,353 MW: PM

SANGSAD BHABAN, June 27, 2018 (BSS)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said now
country’s power generation capacity is 18,353 MW including the captive power.

She said the government has undertaken programme to purchase 2,336 MW power from India
by the year 2022.

Under the programme, this year 500 MW power will be purchased from India, she said in
written reply to a question from treasury bench member Nurunobi Chowdhury.

Sheikh Hasina said country’s power generation will be 24,000 MW by 2021 and 60,000 MW
by 2041.

Replying to another question from Jatiya Party member Rustam Ali Faraji, the prime minister
said construction of 100 model mosques will begin this year in the second phase of the project
undertaken by the present government for building one mosques and cultural centers at
Upazilas and District level. All mosques will be constructed all over rage country gradually,
she said.
