Hasan, Riva inaugurate a Hathazari educational institution

DHAKA, July 23, 2020 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das today jointly inaugurated the construction works of science building of AlipurRahmania School and College in Hathazariupazila of Chattogram through video conference from their respective residences.

Lawmaker of Chattogram-5 constituency and former ministerAnisul Islam Mahmudjoined the function as special guest while Indian Assistant High Commissioner in ChattogramAnindyo Banerjee conducted it.

Thanking the Indian government for taking such initiatives earlier also, Hasan said, “We have to thank India for its historic role and unwavering support to the people and government of Bangladesh as well to the great Liberation War of Bangladesh.”

The information minister paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, all martyrs of the Liberation War and the 15 August carnage, and all Indians who were killed in the war.

He said the relation between Bangladesh and India is genuine and historic. “We talk in the same language of West Bengal and some other states of India and we have been grown up in the same way,” he added.

Lauding the Indian government’s role in Bangladesh’s economic uplift, the information minister said the bilateral trade relation between the two countries has reached a new height through reaching products in the north-eastern states of India using roads of Bangladesh after unloading containers from Indian ship at Chattogram Port. Bangladesh and India will be benefitted if it continues, he added.

Hasan said the development of a country is not sustainable without the development of neighboring countries and it has been realized by the leaders of Bangladesh and India. For this, Bangladesh and India have already established multidimensional relation, he added.

In her speech, Riva Ganguly expressed happiness for her country’s engagement in spreading education here and said such cooperation will be continued in future.

Anisul Islam Mahmud thanked the Indian government for such initiative.
