Construction of Barisal Engineering College nearly completion: Nahid

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2017 (BSS) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today said construction works of Barisal Engineering College is nearly completion and the authorities are expecting to enroll students for the next academic session.

“A total of Taka 91.54 crore will be spent for completing construction work of Barisal Engineering College,” he told a meeting of Annual Development Programme (ADP) under Technical and Madrasha Division here, an official release said. Secretary of Technical and Madrasha Division Md Alamgir, senior officials of the ministry, among others, attended the meeting.

Skill and Training Enhancement Project under Directorate of Technical Education is implementing at a cost of Taka 1,782.13 crore.

The minister said the government has increased enrolment of students to 14 percent from one aiming to create skilled workforce.

“As part of its efforts to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income
country, the government has set a target to reach 20 percent technical and vocational education by 2020,” he added.
