RAJSHAHI, June 27, 2018 (BSS) – A total of 226 candidates collected of
nomination papers to contest in the upcoming election to Rajshahi City
Corporation (RCC).
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton from Bangladesh Awami League, Musaddique Hossain
Bulbul from BNP, Washiur Rahman Dolon from Jatiya Party, Habibur Rahman from
Bangladesh Jatiya Party and Shafiqul Islam from Islami Shashantantra Andolon
collected nomination papers for mayoral post.
Till Tuesday afternoon, a total of 226 candidates collected nomination
forms from the district election office here. Of them, five for mayoral post,
169 for general councilors and 52 for reserved seats for women.
Thirty-six of the candidates including 25 for general councilor already
submitted their nomination papers.
Returning Officer Syed Amirul Islam said the candidates can submit their
nomination papers to both the returning officer and assistant returning
officer till June 28.
Returning Officer will scrutinize the nomination papers on July 1 and 2.
July 9 has been set as the final date for withdrawal of candidature and
election symbol will be distributed among the candidates the following day.
After getting election symbol the candidates can start their formal
election campaign.
