100 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 16, 2020 (BSS) – One-hundred more people were tested
positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) after testing their samples today
at the two laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 100 new COVID-19 infected cases were
reported after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight
districts in the division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, 53 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory today at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 53 patients include 35 of Rangpur, six of Gaibandha, nine
of Lalmonirhat and three of Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional
Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC
Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

Besides, 47 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College
(MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 47 new COVID-19 patients include 42 of Dinajpur, four of
Panchagarh and one of Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing
process at 6:55 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients climbed to 4,545 as 100 new cases were reported from across
the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the 4,545 patients stands at 1,390
in Rangpur, 193 in Panchagarh, 536 in Nilphamari, 233 in Lalmonirhat,
304 in Kurigram, 267 in Thakurgaon, 1,115 in Dinajpur and 507
Gaibandha of the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
