167 detected as COVID-19 positive in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, July 14, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 167 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 856 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Among the newly detected patients, 96 are from Chattogram city and 71 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 11,766 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

“No one has died in Chattogram due to corona infection in the second consecutive days,” he said, adding that both the number of infections and deaths are gradually reduced here in the last five consecutive days.

Dr Rabbi said 25 more new patients were tested coronavirus positive at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) after testing 188 samples in the last 24 hours while 23 patients were diagnosed with the COVID-19 at BITID, Chattogram after tasting 92 samples during the same period.

Besides, 40 more coronavirus patients were identified at Chattogram University after testing 177 samples in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 31 patients were diagnosed with the disease at Private Chevron Lab, Chattogram after testing 114 samples while 44 patients were identified at Imperial Hospital after testing 267 samples during the period.

On the other hand, four residents of Lohagara upazila were identified as COVID-19 positive after testing 18 samples at Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,421 persons were released from different hospitals after recovery from COVID-19 infection till today, Dr. Rabbi added.
