Eligible Cooperative Societies must be registered: Swapan
DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Local Government,
Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee said
today that eligible cooperative societies must be registered after
audit.
He stated this at a meeting held at the conference room of the
Rural Development and Cooperatives Department here through an online
platform to finalize the Cooperative Societies Rules, 2004, said a
press release.
Swapan Bhattacharjee said Bangabandhu had a plan to uplift the
socio-economic condition of the rural people and he took various
cooperative-based programs to this end.
There is ample scope to run cooperative society in agricultural
sector and initiatives have been taken to update the Cooperative
Societies Rules, 2004 to bring transparency, accountability and
dynamism in the activities of the co-operative societies, he added.
Among others, Secretary of Rural Development and Cooperatives
Department Md. Rezaul Ahsan, Registrar and Director General of
Cooperatives Department Md. Aminul Islam, Director General of
Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) Supriya Kumar Kundu and
heads of various departments and agencies and senior officials of the
ministry were present on the occasion.
