Palak launches ‘cashless pay’

DHAKA, July 12, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak today emphasized on ‘virtual currency’ as Bangladesh is going to cashless society soon as the banks are implementing digital payment systems gradually.

The country is also moving forward with four main objectives including human resources development, connecting the internet, e-governance and building IT industry to implement ‘Digital Bangladesh’, he said.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration programme of cashless payment-on-delivery solution ‘Cashless Pay’ through a videoconference from his residence office.

Cashless payments are financial transactions that are transfers of digital information between involved parties, rather than money in physical form.

The Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Mohd Humayun Kabir, Mastercard Bangladesh Country Manager Syed Mohammad Kamal, Eastern Bank Head of Retail Banking M Khorshed Anowar, e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh President Shomi Kaiser and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services President Syed Almas Kabir also attended the conference.
