Highest 106 test positive for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 11, 2020 (BSS) – The highest number of 106 more people were tested positive for coronavirus in a single day after testing their samples today at the two COVID-19 laboratories in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 106 infected cases were reported after diagnosing 376 collected samples from all eight districts in the division at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, a record number of 62 new patients were reported in a day after diagnosing 188 samples today at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) since the beginning.

“The new 62 patients include 37 of Rangpur, eight of Kurigram, 11 of Lalmonirhat, five of Gaibandha, one of Dinajpur districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 44 more new patients was reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) today in Dinajpur.

“The 44 new COVID-19 patients include 27 of Dinajpur, six each of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh and five of Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

While talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 4,042 as 106 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 1,251 in Rangpur, 171 in Panchagarh, 483 in Nilphamari, 205 in Lalmonirhat, 269 in Kurigram, 257 in Thakurgaon, 942 in Dinajpur and 464 in Gaibandha districts under the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
