Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, June 26, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by
temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes over the country in 24-hour as of
9am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at most places over Khulna,
Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions in the next 24-hour commencing from
9am today,” said a met office press release here.

It also likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka and
Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the
country during the period.

Trough of westerly low extends from Bihar to North-east Bay across
Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Southern part of Bangladesh, the release
said, adding that southwest monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to
strong over North Bay.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country
during the period.

The maximum temperature was recorded 34.0 degrees Celsius yesterday in
Dinajpur and Sayedpur and today’s minimum temperature 24.0 degrees Celsius in
Rangpur.

The highest rainfall in the last 24-hour as of 6am today was recorded 159
mm at Chandpur in Chattogram division.

The sun sets today at 6:50 pm and rises at 5:13 am tomorrow in the capital.
