2,401 COVID-19 patients recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, July 10, 2020 (BSS) – The total number of recovered coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 2,401 with healing of 171 more people in a day among 6,606 infected persons in Khulna division till 2pm today.

“A total of 2,401 coronavirus patients recovered so far and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 36.35 in the division,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this afternoon.

The district-wise numbers of recovered patients are 699 in Khulna, 451 in Kushtia, 433 in Jashore, 190 in Bagerhat, 184 in Chuadanga, 128 in Jhenaidah, 117 in Narail, 74 in Magura, 73 in Satkhira and 52 in Meherpur under the division, she mentioned.

“The healed patients were discharged from home isolations or Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the division after disappearance of all symptoms and two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” she said, adding that the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 6,606 with 337 new positive cases reported in a single day after testing 383 samples at the respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

The health officials said among the newly detected 337 COVID-19 patients 118 in Jashore, 107 in Khulna, 38 in Kushtia, 31 in Satkhira, 18 in Narail, 12 in Jhenaidah, seven in Bagerhat, four in Magura and two in Chuadanga districts while the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 2,858 in Khulna, 888 in Kushtia, 952 in Jashore, 378 in Jhenaidah, 361 in Narail, 334 in Satkhira, 278 in Chuadanga, 274 in Bagerhat, 183 in Magura and 97 in Meherpur districts under the division.

“Among the total 6,606 coronavirus infected persons, 709 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 2,401 have recovered and 114 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she added.

The total numbers of fatalities remain same 114 with 43 in Khulna, 19 in Kushtia, 14 in Jashore, seven in Narail, seven in Magura, six each in Jhenidah and Meherpur and five in Satkhira, four in Bagerhat and three in Chuadanga districts in the division while no death case was recorded in the last 24 hour till this noon, Dr. Ferdousi informed.

“Since the beginning from March 10 last, a total of 44,701 people were put in quarantine and of them, 41,987 released and 2,714 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in Khulna division,” she further said, adding that 144 people were put in quarantine at home or institutions and 141 others released in the division during the last 24 hours.

“After getting a total of 1,21,756 pieces of personal protective equipment so far, we’ve already distributed 76,828 pieces of the same with a stock of 44,928 pieces in the division. We’ve maximum importance on inspiring the people in maintaining physical distance, wearing marks and abiding by the health direction to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and providing proper treatments to the infected patients,” she added.
