Highest 103 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 9, 2020 (BSS) – The highest number of 103 more
people were tested positive for coronavirus in a single day after
testing their samples today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in
Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 103 infected cases were reported
after diagnosing 376 collected samples from all eight districts in the
division at the two COVID-19 laboratories at Rangpur and Dinajpur.

Of them, a record number of 59 new patients were reported in a
day after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur
Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The new 59 patients include 31 of Rangpur, 12 of Kurigram, seven
of Lalmonirhat, eight of Gaibandha and one of Panchagarh districts,”
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said.

On the other hand, the highest number of 44 more new patients was
reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M
Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

“The 44 new COVID-19 patients include 36 of Dinajpur, five of
Thakurgaon and three of Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC
Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing
process at 7:40 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19
patients rose to 3,798 as 103 new cases were reported from across the
division today.

“The district-wise break up of the patients stands at 1,193 in
Rangpur, 166 in Panchagarh, 426 in Nilphamari, 192 in Lalmonirhat, 253
in Kurigram, 244 in Thakurgaon, 880 in Dinajpur and 444 Gaibandha
districts in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
