No alternative to achieve skills on frontier technology to lead 4IR: Palak

DHAKA, July 8, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said there is no alternative to skilled human resources of frontier technologies to reap benefit of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR).

“The coronavirus pandemic is speeding the change exponentially and compelling us to use of frontier technologies to sustain in the age of fourth industrial revolution,” he said.

The state minister said this while inaugurating a training programme during a seminar on `Post Covid-19 Skills for the ICT Industry’, said a press release.

ICT Division is sponsoring the training programme offered by the Coursera for Bangladesh and anyone can avail one or more courses for free by registering in the link: http//lict.gov.bd/BCConCoursera.php.

Under the programme, the government will create 5,000 skilled human resources through providing 4,000 Coursera training courses for free to face the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic.

LICT project, the coordinator for launching Coursera training courses in Bangladesh, organized the seminar which was addressed by Executive Director of BCC Parthapratim Deb, LICT Project Director Md Rezaul Karim, Jack O’Donohoe of Coursera, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir, BACCO President Wahidur Rahman Sharif and Women and e-Commerce Forum President Nasima Aktar Nisha.

Country Director of Augmedix Bangladesh Rashed Mujib Noman presented a keynote paper on the `Skills for 21-century’ at the function when Policy Adviser of the LICT Project Sami Ahmed moderated the function.

In his speech, Palak said Bangladesh is taking preparation to build skilled manpower on frontier technologies to lead in the fourth industrial revolution and it is establishing Sheikh Hasina Institute for Frontier Technologies (SHIFT).

The state minister urged the IT professionals and educated youngsters to be skilled on frontier technologies by availing the free Coursera training courses.

Rashed Mujib laid emphasis on achieving skills especially on communication, creativity, critical thinking and collaboration.

Parthapratim Deb said those who completed 4 courses of Coursera they will also get a certificate from the government.
