64 positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, July 6, 2020 (BSS) – Sixty-four more people were tested positive for coronavirus after testing their samples today at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the new 64 infected cases were reported today after diagnosing 376 “The new 40 patients include 21 of Rangpur, seven of Gaibandha, six each of Lalmonirhat and Kurigram districts,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 24 more new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 24 new COVID-19 patients include nine of Dinajpur, seven of Panchagarh and two each of Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Shibesh Sarker told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:50 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 3,509 as 64 new cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise breakup of 3,509 patients is 1,111 in Rangpur, 158 in Panchagarh, 418 in Nilphamari, 177 in Lalmonirhat, 228 in Kurigram, 227 in Thakurgaon, 765 in Dinajpur and 425 in Gaibandha of the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
