KCC mayor distributes food aid, money among 691 insolvent people

KHULNA, July 4, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque here on Friday afternoon distributed foodstuffs and cash money among 691 distressed, jobless people and newspaper hawkers as the government relief assistance amid COVID-19 pandemic as the government continues distributing aid among people.

City mayor distributed 53 mounds of rice, each of eight kg and others relief materials among 263 newspaper hawkers from nine upazilas of the district, including Khulna metropolis, in the city’s Shonkho Market premises by strictly following health safety guidelines.

During the distribution of relief materials City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said that the government is continuing distribution of food items and cash money to reduce financial hardship of helpless people amid Covid-19 pandemic.

“Everyone has to follow proper government hygiene rules to protect themselves from the coronavirus, she said, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stands beside the unemployed and helpless people”.

President of District Newspaper Hawkers Union Sardar Anwar Hossain, it’s vice-president Syed Alam Guddu, General Secretary Md Shahidul Islam and other leaders of the union were present during the distribution of food items.

Later, the mayor disbursed 75 mounds of rice, Taka 42,800 and others relief materials among 428 needy and destitute people at the premises of the city’s Pioneer Secondary Girls School in 22 wards aimed at meeting their financial hardship amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Each of the beneficiaries received a sac containing 7 kilograms of rice and Taka 100 for purchasing other essentials as part of the government’s instant humanitarian support programme.
