Agriculture census begins in next April
DHAKA, June 25, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) will
start Agriculture Census-2018 from April next year to update agriculture
related data and information.
BBS held a workshop as part of its preparation for conducting the
census-crop, fisheries and livestock. It has started zoning to conduct the
census.
Saurendra Nath Chakrabhartty, secretary (in-charge) of Statistics and
Informatics Division (SID) of Planning Ministry and additional secretary
Bikash Kishore Das spoke at the workshop.
Project director of Agriculture Census-2018 Md Zafar Ahmad Khan made a
power point presentation on the background, objectives, census area, nature
of questions and other information about the census.
The workshop was informed that collection of information for the census
will begin from April, 2019. Information will be collected from all
households and agriculture related organisations in two phases.
The project involves a cost of Tk 345 crore and it will be concluded in
December 2020.
The last census was conducted in 2008.
