COVID-19 cases in Khulna division reach 5,089

KHULNA, July 3, 2020 (BSS) – With record detection of 314 new more positive cases in a single day, in last 24 hours till today’s noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in the division reached 5,089 said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report here today.

“We received 372 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jashore and Kushtia laboratories in the last 24 hours till this noon and 314 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS this noon.

The health officials said the newly detected 314 COVID-19 patients include eight in Chuadanga, 38 in Jashore, 13 in Jhenaidah, 156 in Khulna, 26 in Kustia, 21 in Magura, seven in Meherpur, 31 in Narail ans 14 in Satkhira districts in the division.

The official said the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 patients now stands at 195 in Bagerhat, 237 in Chuadanga, 745 in Jashore, 249 in Jhenaidah, 2,279 in Khulna, 678 in Kustia, 169 in Magura, 87 in Meherpur, 252 in Narail and 198 in Satkhira districts.

Dr Ferdousi said the whereabouts of the persons, who came in contact with Covid-19 patients, were brought to notice and they were asked to remain in home isolation so that the virus cannot spread further.

She added that utmost emphasis has been given to bring all the suspected people under quarantine, isolation and testing as these are being adjudged as important means of containing the community transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,556 have cured from coronavirus infections as 165 more people were discharged from the Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals after their recovery in all 10 districts of the division in the last 24 hours.

“Among the total 5,089 coronavirus infected persons, 559 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 1,556 have recovered and 84 died while the rest of the patients are remaining in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, she said.

With the three more death, the total number of fatalities reached 84 in the division including 27 in Khulna, four in Bagerhat, four in Satkhira, 12 in Jashore, six in Jhenaidah, four in Magura, seven in Narail, 11 in Kustia, three in Chuadanga and five in Meherpur districts.
