Pre-registration, registration for Hajj remain valid for 2021’s Hajj

DHAKA, June 24, 2020 (BSS)- Both registrations and pre-registrations of the intending pilgrims for this year’s holy Hajj will remain valid for next year’s (2021) Hajj also.

The decision was taken at an inter-ministerial virtual meeting on Hajj related issues during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic this afternoon with Religious Affairs Secretary Nurul Islam in the chair.

According to the decision of the meeting, those who have registered for performing the holy Hajj this year (2020), can cancel their registrations from July 13 next and also apply for refunding the money.

In that case, along with the cancellation of the registrations of Hajj, the pre-registrations to this end will also be canceled.

After the meeting, Religious Affairs Secretary Nurul Islam in a video message said that a new software for the cancellation of registrations and pre-registrations for the Hajj pilgrims will be added to the Hajj’s website by July 12 next.

As a result, from July 13, those, who want to cancel the registrations or get their money back, can apply, he said.

He said the money of Hajj passengers under the government agencies will be refunded through cheque or pay-order from Sonali Bank without cutting any charge.

Privately managed pilgrims will apply for cancellation of registrations of Hajj through their respective agencies, he said, adding that they can also get the money back directly or by cheque or online transfer.

The Religious Affairs Secretary also said the ministry would closely monitor the refunding process to avoid any complications.

The Saudi Arabian government has decided not to allow any foreign pilgrims to take part in this year’s Hajj in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
