PM mourns death of AL Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim

DHAKA, June 13, 2020 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today condoled the death of Awami League lawmaker from Sirajganj-1 constituency and former health minister Mohammed Nasim, saying he will be remembered for his service and efforts for the welfare of the country and the nation.

In a condolence message, the premier expressed deep shock and sorrow at the demise of Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and Spokesperson of central 14-party Alliance Mohammed Nasim, son of one of the four national leaders, Captain M Monsur Ali.

Sheikh Hasina, also the President of AL, recalled his contribution to people’s welfare, saying, “Mohammed Nasim like his father worked for the welfare of the country and the nation being inspired with the ideology of the Father of the Nation.”

He played a significant role in establishing the spirit of the Liberation War and the communal harmony in the country by facing all sorts of hurdle, she continued.

“At Mohammed Nasim’s death, Bangladesh has lost a true patriot and pro-people leader as well as I myself lost a co-warrior,” she added.

The prime minister prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Former health minister Mohammed Nasim passed away at the Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in city’s Shyamoli area this morning. He had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since June 1.

The veteran AL leader tested positive for coronavirus. But he was found coronavirus negative in the second and third test.

He also suffered a stroke and had undergone a successful surgery.
