JS commission approves Tk 335cr budget for FY 2020-21
DHAKA, June 8, 2020 (BSS) – The Parliament Secretariat Commission today approved an estimated Tk 335.34 crore budget for Parliament to spend as its development and non-development expenditures for the next fiscal 2020-21.
The approval was given at the 31th meeting of the Commission held at JatiyaSangsadBhaban with Speaker Dr ShirinSharminChaudhury in the chair.
The budget is 3.88 percent higher than that of the outgoing fiscal 2018-19, said an official release of Parliament Secretariat.
The meeting also approved the projected budget of Taka 358.81 crore for fiscal 2021-22 and Taka 383.93 crore for fiscal 2022-23, and cleared the revised budget of the outgoing financial year (2019-20).
Commission members – Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister AnisulHuqattend the meeting.
Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury attended the meeting on a special invitation.
At the beginning of the meeting, it discussed the implementation progress of the decisions taken at the 30th Commission meeting.
The Commission discussed strengthening security for the deputy speaker and chief whip, and creating 11 new posts at different divisions of the Parliament Secretariat.
Parliament Secretariat’s Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan placed the agenda of the meeting, while Finance Division Secretary Abdur RoufTalukder and Housing and Public Works Secretary Md ShahidUllahKhandaker and high officials concerned were present.
