Govt continues relief work amid COVID-19 crisis
DHAKA, June 04, 2020 (BSS) – The government is continuing relief distribution across the country as part of its humanitarian assistance to mitigate people’s sufferings in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to the information received from the district administrations of 64 districts as of June 03, nearly 1,92,000 tonnes of rice have been allocated as relief where the government has already reached out food relief to about 1.4336 crore families across the country, said an official handout today.
The government has so far allocated more than Taka 110 crore in cash as relief for distribution.
As a result, the number of the beneficiaries in this regard stood at 3.84 crore people of 87.87 lakh families across the country.
Besides, Taka 23.94 crore was allocated for baby food aid so far while nearly Taka 19.95 crore has already been distributed among about 13.40 lakh people of about 6.42 lakh families across the country.
