Chinese medical team due on June 8 combating COVID-19

DHAKA, June 3, 2020 (BSS) – A Chinese medical expert team with
remarkable success in containing coronavirus and treating patients in
China is due to arrive here with a bunch of medical equipment on June
8, Chinese embassy here confirmed it this evening.

The medical team, organized by the Chinese National Health
Commission, consists of 10 respiratory physicians selected by the
Hainan Provincial Health Commission, a Chinese embassy official here
told BSS.

In their two-week stay in Bangladesh, he said the experts would
visit designated hospitals, quarantine centers, and testing centers,
discuss on the epidemics with Bangladeshi counterparts, and make
calibrated propositions for containment and treatment.

He said the initiative has been taken as one of the reflections of
Chinese President Xi’s assurance to support Bangladesh in its combat
against the deadly virus

On May 20, Chinese President Xi Jinping called Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina and proposed sending an expert team to help Bangladesh combat
the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Many cooperative measures have been taken by the Chinese side and
most of which have already been implemented in Bangladesh since the
outbreak here, said the Chinese diplomat.

Bangladesh today reported 37 more fatalities from the coronavirus in
a daily count, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 746 while
the caseload surged to 55,140 after 2,695 new COVID-19 cases were
detected in the last 24 hours.
