RANGPUR, June 3, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -13 seized 78 kilograms of ganja and arrested an alleged drug trader from village Mahesha in Kursha union of Kawnia upazila in the district today.
“On a tip off, an operational team of RAB-13 from its Rangpur headquarters searched a tin-shed room erected and used as potato storeroom and seized huge quantities of smuggled ganja hidden there ,” a RAB press release said.
The elite force found ganja which were hidden in six sacs of potato to dodge the law enforcing agencies and later recovered three mobile phone sets from the possession of the arrested person.
The arrested drug trader could be identified as Zakir Hossain, 42, son of late Aizul Islam Sarker in the same village.
During interrogation, the arrested person confessed his involvement in running drug business in association with his other cohorts for long.
The arrested drug trader was handed over to Kawnia police station and a case was filed in this connection .
