Met office forecasts light to moderate rain

DHAKA, Aug 22, 2017 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places across the country in next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places across the country,” Ruhul Quddus, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) told BSS this afternoon.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, he said.

Besides, the Met office in a warning message said, “In association with rain or thundershowers, temporary south or south-easterly, gusty or squally wind speeding 45-60 kph is likely to occur in the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet wherein river ports shall hoist cautionary signal no one”.

The country’s highest temperature on Monday was recorded 35.7 degree Celsius at Chandpur and today’s minimum 24.2 degree Celsius at Rangamati in Chittagong division.

The sun sets at 6:26 pm today and rises at 5:36 am tomorrow in the capital.
