Take preparation for next general polls, Hasan urges BNP

DHAKA, June 22, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Publication and Publicity Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today urged the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to take preparation for the next general election.

“We want to take part in the next national elections along with BNP…if the party (BNP) will not participate in the election, they will not survive in the country’s politics,” said Dr Mahmud.

He said this while addressing at a discussion as the chief guest organized by Bangladesh Swadinata Parishad at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium here.

Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam and former State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haq Tuku spoke as special guests with Awami League central sub-committee member and advisor of the parishad Barrister Zakir Ahmed in the chair.

Referring to the founding anniversary of the ruling Awami League on June 23, the former minister said the Awami League was born for sharpening the non-communal spirit and speaking on behalf of the distress and poor people.

Food Minister said the next general election will be held in the country as per the constitution, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead the government during the election.

The parliament will never to be resolved at any situation, the minister added.
