Egypt keen to assist fisheries and livestock sectors in Bangladesh

DHAKA, May 29, 2020 (BSS) – Egypt has expressed its interest to assist in the development of livestock and fisheries sectors in Bangladesh.

Egyptian Ambassador to Bangladesh Walid Ahmed Shamseldin today expressed the interest in a courtesy call on Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim at his official residence on Bailey Road in the city, said a press release.

During the meeting, Walid Ahmed Shamseldin said Egypt has experience in the livestock and fisheries sectors and there are a huge opportunities to use the Egyptian experience, technology and medicine in the fisheries and livestock sectors in Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh and Egypt are brotherly countries. There are many traditions and cultural similarities between the two countries. Egypt wants to increase cooperation on issues related to friendship and mutual interests of both countries,” he added.

During the COVID-19 crisis, he said there will be a huge demand for fish, meat, milk and eggs worldwide for meat and nutrition.

“In that case, Egypt is interested in providing all kinds of assistance to Bangladesh to increase production in the poultry, fisheries and dairy sectors.

SM Rezaul Karim assured him that Bangladesh would consider this interest of Egypt with sincerity.
