1,000 more destitute families get food in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, May 28, 2020 (BSS)- Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRC) has
provided cooked foods to 1,000 jobless and other helpless families to
mitigate their livelihood related difficulties being caused by the global
novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

BDRC’s Rajshahi city unit distributed food packets at two separate poverty-
prone areas in the city today through maintaining social distancing and other
protective measures to stem the coronavirus spreading.

President of the city unit and Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM
KhairuzzamanLiton accompanied by its ward councilor Towhidul Haque Suman
distributed the humanitarian support.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton said the present government under
the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working
relentlessly to cope with the present pandemic situation.

The government has been dispensing foodstuffs and cash money among the
low-incoming and other hand-to-mouth families to mitigate their hardships
being caused by the pandemic.

Earlier on, the unit provided foodstuffs to 5,000 distressed families amid
the Covid-19 pandemic.

Each of the families was given a food package containing 7.5 kilograms of
rice, one kilogram of pulse, edible oil, salt and sugar each and 500 grams of
suji.
